Fun, Food & Family: Kid-Friendly Brunch at Swissotel Al Ghurair

October 10th, 2018

Dubai’s brunch scene gets friendlier for kids and families with the opening of the PlayHouse Brunch by Swissotel, Deira.

The Playhouse in Liwan Retsaurant at Swissotel Al Ghurair, Deira is specifically aimed towards families and parents who want to enjoy an exquisite variety of international cuisines while the children keep busy with supervised play and lots of creative activities.

The Playhouse is a supervised play room equipped with cameras, with TV screens displaying the little one’s acts in the dining area for parents to monitor. No wonder mommies and daddies with be happily brunching away! There is plenty of helpful staff to keep check on the kids while they indulge in a range of kids activities.

It was good to see the focus of the buffet was on healthy eating with a lot of vitality dishes on the stalls that satisfy both - taste buds and the nutritional requirements. We particularly relished the vitality shots of fresh fruit juices, herbs served in tiny glasses and sugar free desserts. Add to this the most amazing food and a lot of it freshly prepared in front of your eyes and it becomes a brunch of fun and flavor.

The food at Swissotel’s Al Liwan Restaruant features flavours from all over the world. Think Mexican corn salad prepared in front of your eyes, freshly-rolled shawarma that doesn’t fail the authentic Middle East taste, a friendly chef at Thai Curry station whipping up a creamy coconut based curry coupled with pizzas, seafood and a dim-sum station. Of course, the kebabs, daal makhani and biryani make us forget all other treats but only for a little while.

Now this brunch is all about kids so there’s got to be a special Kids Buffet with some great finger foods.

A separate kids food zone includes fruits skewers, vegetable cream cheese sandwiches, corn on the cob, chicken nuggets, vegetable sticks and fries along with sweet treats such as marshmallow, pineapples in chocolate sauce, cotton candy, fresh shakes, smoothies and frozen yoghurt sprinkled with m&ms. With countless choices available making them eat after a long play session won’t be hard either with yummy and healthy treats!

They have some really cool activities to keep the kids engaged ranging from face painting, art and craft, bouncy castle, mini ball pool, balloon twisting, all supervised by plenty of staff. Older kids get a nook for themselves with big screen, video games and comfy bean bags.

What we loved about the kid’s brunch was cooking corner where kids get an opportunity to be mini-chefs and decorate their own cupcakes, cookies and later relish their creations.

The huge floor to ceiling windows make it an airy affair with ample natural light flowing in and the terrace area has some gorgeous views of the busy Fish roundabout in Deira.

Over all a good value for money brunch to bring in the weekend at a yummy and fun-filled note for the entire family!
Takes place every Friday, from 12:30 pm to 4pm, for AED 160 per person, AED 80 for kids aged 8-12 years, while kids under 5 years eat free. For bookings call: 042933000.
