ANTI-AGEING: What you need to know

October 29th, 2018

Aging is a part of life; however, there are things we do (or don’t do) on a daily basis that can affect and impact the aging process of our skin. Dermatologic Cosmetic Laboratories breaks down some of the main causes of aging and how to counteract them...

Stress Less

Stress has been proven to cause premature wrinkles and loss of elasticity in the skin - the stress hormone ‘Cortisol’ breaks down elastin and collagen which will leave skin looking dull and worn – though it is hard to control stress, taking time out to relax and rest should help to minimize stress levels.

Skip the Straw

Aside from causing terrible damage to the environment by polluting the oceans, sipping through straws uses the muscles around your mouth where fine lines and wrinkles can occur – speeding up the aging process.

Scrub Away

Regularly exfoliating your skin will help to remove the build-up of excess dirt, oil and dull skin cells giving your skin a fresh, radiant glow – this can also help to smooth out fine lines and boost blood circulation of the face.

Stop Smoking

Smoking is a bad habit all around, with most of the side effects being dangers to your health – however, smoking also has a major effect on your appearance causing wrinkles, premature ageing, and stained teeth.

Catch some Zzz’s

Getting enough hours of sleep per night has been proven to be beneficial for many reasons, including lowering the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Sleep also has a positive effect on your skin, reducing inflammation and increasing blood flow – keeping you glowing and youthful.

Hydrate to illuminate

Hydration is key for keeping your skin in tip-top condition, cleansing you from the inside out, flushing out toxins and keeping your body nourished. Drinking enough water will help to keep your skin clearer, firmer and increase luminosity.
